Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the rigid strapping tape I can buy at the chemist?
McConnell Therapeutics Rigid Tape is manufactured to a physiotherapy-grade specification set by Jenny McConnell, with a high-glue zinc oxide adhesive built specifically for McConnell Taping. Chemist tapes are made to a broader general-purpose spec.
How many applications will I get out of one roll?
Each roll is 38mm wide and 13.7m long. A typical full knee taping uses 70 to 90cm, giving you around 15 to 20 applications per roll. Smaller joints use less.
Can I apply Rigid Tape directly to my skin?
You can, but we recommend applying Under Tape first. The zinc oxide adhesive is strong and can irritate skin over longer wear. Under Tape extends comfortable wear and makes removal much easier.
How do I know how to apply it correctly?
Every box includes a QR code linking to free point of view self-taping tutorials filmed with Jenny McConnell, covering the knee, ankle, shoulder and lower back. Filmed from the patient's perspective for easy self-application. You can also find those videos here.
