What type of adhesive do the tapes use? 

We use only premium-grade adhesives, carefully selected for performance, comfort, and skin safety, unlike many brands that rely on cheaper hot melt adhesives that fail under pressure or after contact with sweat.

• • Under Tape uses an acrylic adhesive that is gentle on skin, yet highly durable even during heavy sweating
  • Rigid Tape uses an extra strong zinc oxide adhesive offering maximum strength and superior grip
  • Our Under Tape Sensitive is designed with a silicone adhesive, ideal for delicate or sensitive skin and larger joints

Is McConnell Therapeutics tape safe for sensitive skin? 

Yes! Our Under Tape is hypoallergenic, latex-free, and made with medical-grade materials. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend doing a patch test before full application.

If you have any issues, Under Tape Sensitive is specially designed for sensitive skin, particularly if you are taping a larger joint such as a shoulder, back or hip.  

Due to the strength of the Zinc Oxide adhesive in our Rigid Tape we recommend using Under Tape as a pre-layer before applying this tape to protect your skin. 

How long can I wear the tape before replacing it? 

McConnell Therapeutics tape is designed to stay in place for up to 4 days, depending on activity and skin type.

For enhanced durability and longer wear, apply Tape Shield over the top layer, especially in high-friction or high-moisture environments.

Can I shower or swim while wearing this tape?

Yes. Our tapes are specifically designed to perform during vigorous activity, including running, gym workouts, and team sports. Adhesives are sweat-resistant and engineered to stay in place under pressure.

Can I apply the tape myself, or do I need a physiotherapist? 

We strongly recommend seeking professional advice from a qualified physiotherapist for any injury or pain.

McConnell Therapeutics tape is designed to be used in partnership with physiotherapy treatment, and our self-taping videos are intended to reinforce correct technique between sessions, after an initial consultation.

What is the difference between your four tape types? 

We offer a specialised range to suit different needs:

  • Rigid Tape: A non-stretch tape for joint stability and injury prevention.
  • Under Tape Sensitive: A silicone-based version for delicate or reactive skin.
